I thought it would be a good idea to write before I leave on my trip to Colombia. I will be attending the Live and Invest in Colombia conference for 3 days during the first week that I’m there. I’ll move out of the hotel where the conference is being held after the first week. I’ve rented a 2-bedroom apartment for the month after that.
The apartment is in the Floresta Park area of Medellin. I really can’t tell you how far that is from El Poblado. El Poblado is the place where all the tourists stay and is supposed to be the safest area. I, of course, had to be different. I was told that the area I’ll be staying in is very safe and undiscovered by tourists. I can get to know actual Colombians and experience the type of place where I would probably live if I were to move to Medellin. It’s also much more affordable than units in the El Poblado area.
There are supposed to be plenty of stores and restaurants in the area so I should be fine. I rented a 2-bedroom for less than it would have cost to rent many of the 1-bedroom and studio apartments in El Poblado. The owner of the apartment building rents out individual rooms, but I wanted to have my own kitchen so I rented the whole apartment. I also like the idea of having an extra room in case someone comes to visit me!
